individual therapy
1:1 trauma therapy
Trauma can affect how we see ourselves, navigate relationships, respond to stress, and experience everyday life. Trauma-focused therapy provides a supportive space to process difficult or overwhelming experiences, develop healthier coping strategies, and reconnect with a sense of safety and self.
Dr. Boahen works collaboratively with clients to understand how past experiences may be influencing their present thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and relationships. Together, therapy focuses on healing, building resilience, and creating healthier patterns for moving forward.
Trauma healing is a personal process, and there is no single path or timeline for recovery. Dr. Boahen meets clients where they are, creating space to explore their experiences at a pace that feels manageable and supportive.
Format: 50-minute private sessions via secure telehealth.

How I help
My approach to therapy is compassionate, collaborative, and grounded in helping you understand yourself, your relationships, and the patterns that may be affecting your well-being. Together, we will explore what is happening beneath the surface while developing practical ways to help you move forward.
Depending on your needs, our work may include:
Processing trauma, grief, and difficult experiences
Understanding patterns within yourself and your family relationships
Incorporating your Christian and/or spiritual faith into the therapeutic process when desired
Learning effective strategies for managing anxiety, stress, and emotional overwhelm
Building healthier coping strategies and addressing substance use concerns
You do not have to navigate difficult seasons alone. Therapy can be a place to gain clarity, heal from what has hurt you, and move toward a healthier, more fulfilling life.
types of therapy
Therapy is not one-size-fits-all. My approach draws from evidence-based therapeutic practices and is tailored to your experiences, needs, and goals. Depending on what you are working through, our sessions may incorporate:

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) — identifying unhelpful thought patterns and developing more effective ways of responding
Solution-Focused Therapy — identifying strengths, possibilities, and practical steps toward meaningful change
Motivational Interviews — exploring ambivalence, strengthening motivation, and supporting you in making meaningful changes that align with your values and goals
Each treatment plan is tailored to your unique experiences, goals, and needs.
